Data for heterogeneous electron transfer reactions obtained in the last ten years have been examined within the context of contemporary theory. Special attention is focused on systems for which rate constants and activation parameters are available as functions of solvents and of temperataure. The role of reactant structure in deteriming the kinetic parameters is also considered. Double layer effects both at unmodified and modified electrodes are discussed in detail. Electrocatalyst degradation due to dissolution is one of the major challenges in electrochemical energy conversion technologies such as fuel cells and electrolysers. While tendencies towards dissolution can be grasped considering available thermodynamic data, the kinetics of material's stability in real conditions is still difficult to predict and have to be measured experimentally, ideally in‐situ and/or on‐line. On‐line inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP‐MS) is a technique developed recently to address exactly this issue. It allows time‐ and potential‐resolved analysis of dissolution products in the electrolyte during the reaction under dynamic conditions. In this work, applications of on‐line ICP‐MS techniques in studies embracing dissolution of catalysts for oxygen reduction (ORR) and evolution (OER) as well as hydrogen oxidation (HOR) and evolution (HER) reactions are reviewed. 相似文献

Abstract An electrochemical method for a rapid assay of total cholesterol in serum using free cholesterol oxidase (EC 1.1.3.6) and cholesterol esterase (EC 3.1.1.13) is described. Hydrogen peroxide generated by cholesterol oxidase is amperometrically monitored at + 650 mV vs Ag/AgCl and two types of responses can be recorded : a steady-state response and a dynamic one. The dynamic response is obtained within one minute. Interfering species are detected prior measurement and a linear calibration curve can be obtained for total cholesterol in the sample in the range 0.4-8 mM useful for clinical analysis. 相似文献

Abstract Peroxynitrite (ONOO?), which is usually generated as a response of the immune system or in inflammatory processes, is a powerful oxidant species, while hemoglobin is an important peroxynitrite scavenger in vivo. In this work, we have studied the interaction between peroxynitrite and hemoglobin through an electrochemical method and UV-Vis spectroscopy. It is found that peroxynitrite, at a relatively high concentration level, may make the protein exhibit a concentration-dependent increase of its catalytic activity towards hydrogen peroxide, whereas peroxynitrite at low concentration will result in the slight decrease of the catalytic activity. Further studies reveal that the diversification of the enzymatic activity is ascribed to the different extent of tyrosine nitration and, accordingly, the spatial conformation of the protein. 相似文献
